Addition reactions

Addition reaction and mechanism in organic chemistry.

In organic chemistry an addition reaction is a basic chemical reaction in which two or more molecules react to one larger molecule (adduct). The addition is the reverse of the elimination reaction.

The additions is - like the substitution reaction and the rearrangement reaction - one of the basic operations of chemical synthesis. Specific reaction types are listed under the heading of name reactions.

Reaction center of the additions are usually multiple bonds (double bonds, triple bonds), to which attaches the reactants, with the multiple-bond character is resolved.

Below you will find online available information resources about addition reactions and mechanisms in chemistry.
