Role Summary/Purpose:As a Specialist in Fuels & Lubricants you will be a member of the Center of Excelence on Biofuels at the GE Global Research Center in Rio de Janeiro, which is focused on the design, production and analysis of biofuels, production systems and on compatible engines and turbines. Essential ResponsibilitiesAs a Specialist in Fuels & Lubricants, you will:

Identify chemical and physical properties of substances by conducting analyses such as chromatography, spectroscopy, and spectrophotometry, etc
Model chemical processes to prove concepts using commercial engineering analysis tools.
Define all required laboratory equipments/requirements/specifications related to your area, and interact with teams rensposible for their implementation and comissioning
Conduct both analytical and experimental analysis, reviewing results
Document the results through technical reports and publications, and develop intellectual property (IP) through patent applications
Make key contributions to new technical ideas
Interact with other groups/areas and with other GRCs, communicating results to counterparts in the research centers and at GE

Qualifications/Requirements:Bachelor or Master degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or other relevant chemistry discipline
At least 2 years of relevant experience with fuels and lubricants
Hands on experience on fuel characterization
Demonstrated knowledge of combustion & combustion chemistry, thermodynamics, chemical kinetics
Knowledge of main fuel characteristics (LHV, cetane, octane, methane numbers, flash point, etc) for application in internal combustion engines (reciprocating & turbines)
Fluency in English and Portuguese
Familiar with safety procedures and EHS
Desired CharacteristicsPhD in Organic Chemistry, Biochemical Engineering or other relevant chemistry discipline
Experience in industrial research in biofuels such as Fermentation, Distillation, Biodigestion, Transesterification and similar topics
Knowledge/experience in lubrication for internal combustion engines
Familiar with main tribology & wear mechanisms, corrosion, antifoulant associated with use of low lubricity fuels in internal combustion engines
