Scanning Probe

Scanning Probe Microscopes

A scanning probe microscope is a non-optical, physical-technical instrument that is used for high-resolution, detailed visualization of sample surfaces down to a range of 10 pm (picometer) and thus enables the investigation and imaging of surfaces at the atomic level. For example, the surfaces of metals, semiconductors, materials, nanomaterials, ceramics, organic substances, polymers with a high molecular weight or even biological samples can be made visible without prior coating, whereby the surface features can be displayed with a magnification of 1 to a million. The process itself is called scanning probe microscopy.

A distinction is made - depending on the type of interaction - between different types of scanning probe microscopes; in detail: magnetic force microscopes (MKM), atomic force microscopes (RKM), scanning tunneling microscopes (RTM), optical and acoustic scanning near-field microscopes.

In the following overview you will find a list of manufacturers, their products and suppliers of scanning probe microscopes of various types and with different screening methods for use in laboratories, research, teaching and industry.
